SEAC meetings are always open to the public and visitors are welcome. 

Meeting time:  6:00 PM

Meeting Place:  Location will vary.  Virtual attendance is also an option:  The meeting link can be requested by emailing SEAC@harrisonburg.k12.va.us - Requests must be received prior to 3:30 PM on the meeting date. 

What is the Special Education Advisory Committee?
The SEAC is a committee that works with the school board, administrators, parents, and teachers who are responsible for special education students. 

Who serves on the committee?
The committee, appointed by the School Board, is comprised of parents of special education students and affiliated human service agency representatives. School personnel, the Director of Special Education, as well as a representative from the School Board serve as consultants.

  • Haylee Watson – Teacher Representative/Post Grad Special Education Teacher

What is the function of the Special Education Advisory Committee?

  • To advise the school division of unmet special education needs
  • To assist the school division in recognizing needs for special education students
  • To give periodic reports and recommendations to the Harrisonburg City School Board
  • To review annually the special education plan and prepare recommendations regarding the plan
