At its August 5, 2025 meeting, the Harrisonburg City School Board voted to withdraw from its longstanding partnership in the governance of Massanutten Technical Center, effective June 30, 2027. This was a difficult but necessary decision following a breakdown in the collaborative relationship on which the partnership depends.
We remain fully committed to supporting our students currently enrolled at MTC and will meet all of our obligations to MTC through the 2026-27 school year.
Looking ahead, we are excited to begin designing a new, innovative career and technical education program tailored to the needs of Harrisonburg students and the local workforce. Our focus remains where it always has been – on expanding opportunity and ensuring student success.
