Gifted Student Instruction

The Harrisonburg City School system recognizes each child as a unique and worthwhile individual who is deserving of an educational experience appropriate to his/her needs. The mission of the gifted program is to provide gifted learners with differentiated instruction to facilitate maximum development of their potential. Therefore, the system is committed to providing a K-12 continuum of services for gifted learners within and outside the regular classroom through a variety of extension and enrichment opportunities. Underlying the program is the premise that each teacher who works with gifted students needs to be aware of their unique learning characteristics and styles and should be able to provide learning experiences appropriate to their needs
